Go with the Flo

When life throws you curves, you have to learn to “Go with the Flo!” This is a motto Kacy has learned to live by in her life and career, and part of the inspiration for Flo Salon. The name Flo originated from Kacy’s mom, Lori. “Flo Lee” was her nickname given to her by her siblings growing up, and was eventually shortened to Flo. Like Kacy, Lori attended hair school right out of high school and has been working as a stylist ever since. Kacy and her sisters often visited their mom in the salon to see her in action, and had their updos done by her for dozens of school dances and events. Lori has always encouraged Kacy to follow whatever path in life that makes her happy, and their mutual love of hair design has made this journey that much more enjoyable for them both. While not everything with starting a business has gone exactly as expected, Kacy has truly embraced the salon’s motto and made Flo Salon somewhere she loves to be on a daily basis.

Meet Kacy Lee

Kacy Lee Mullen has had a passion for creativity from a young age. Growing up watching her mom as a hair stylist, Kacy always considered the beauty industry as an avenue for her. During high school, Kacy worked as an assistant at a children’s salon, and also expressed her creativity at a floral shop where she assisted designers with flower arrangements. Shortly after high school, Kacy attended Toni & Guy Hairdressing Academy and fell in love with the art of hair. Upon graduation, she began an apprenticeship at Roffi Salon on Newbury Street in Boston. Here, she learned from master stylist Michael Roffi to perfect her cutting skills. She also took classes in color, specifically highlighting and balayage, and also became Ouidad  and Keratin certified. While making a name for herself at Roffi, Kacy spread her talents to Roots and Lace Salon in Boston’s South End. In both places she became an independent stylist, and as business continued to grow, Kacy knew she was capable of even more. The idea of “Flo” came about in early 2022, and by March 2023, “Flo” was open for business. Kacy is extremely grateful to all of her loyal clients who have followed her to Brighton and continued to allow her to make them look and feel beautiful! She is especially thankful for all of her family and friends that have helped make her dream a reality.
